Buffalo Soldier

This is my interpetation of this historical figure. The available photographs of these brave men are at minimal at best. Named by the Native Indians of North America. The Buffalo Soldier was called Buffalo because their wool like hair was like that of their many buffalo that were a large part of the Indian life. The Buffalo were prevalent in the open plains. When the African slaves migrated into the plains many became part of the Indian tribes as friend and many became family. Knowing this is what was important for me to portray this fascinating group of men in not just as a historical figures but as compassionate, proud and strong men who fought to be free. I felt honored to be able to share my vision of this important figure in American history.
